Journalism students at Emerson College are scrambling to secure internship positions with the summer rapidly approaching. However, the College’s “pay for credit” policies are creating barriers for less economically advantaged students, who result in working for free without credit in order to avoid the hefty cost of additional course credit, and are deterring these students from pursuing internship opportunities.
